Susan J. Berman's first solo CD, Nantucket Girl made it's debut on the Folk DJ Charts in September of 2018. Including 12 original songs and one cover, Nantucket Girl presents a collection of songs for maritime enthusiasts, adventurers, history lovers and those who delve deep. Several songs were inspired by Nantucket’s rich history and its remarkable citizens. Other songs have more universal themes, exploring life’s poetic mysteries. With the upbeat and punchy “Nantucket Girl’s Song,”  blues song “I’ve Never Tasted Love,” country song “Where Are You Driving Me Tonight?” and the poignant ballad “Leave the Hall Light On,” Susan takes listeners on a musical journey that transcends time.

Based in Nantucket, Massachusetts, singer/songwriter Susan J. Berman plays an eclectic mix of musical styles from Broadway to bluegrass. Her inspirations come from a variety of sources including the captivating, historic island of Nantucket that she calls home. Her music includes original songs, sea shanties, traditional and cover songs performed at a variety of venues. Susan has performed regularly at the Nantucket Maritime Festival, Nantucket Christmas Stroll as well as a host of venues and events including the Nantucket Whaling Museum, The Unitarian Church and The Maria Mitchell Association.

Susan also performs regularly with her partner in music and life Ray K. Saunders.  They met at an open mic in North Beach, Maryland nearly two decades ago. They have been making music ever since. RockFish was known as the band that “played hard and traveled light.”  In 2004 RockFish released a CD entitled “Shady Grove”.  This CD is a collection of favorite cover songs. Susan continues to perform with RockFish when time allows.

Susan recorded her original song “This Old Mill” inspired by Nantucket’s Old Mill in 2014.  It is included on the local compilation CD “Island Vibes.”  This CD was produced by Nick and Victor Ferrantella of Garden Rock Studio on Nantucket.
